Cruse Romaire Garden Wall
Lincoln Heights, CA, 2015
Steven Chavez designed this garden wall for a residential loft in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The garden wall receives ample natural light via a large industrial glass door. The glass door is lightly frosted to provide privacy, and to provide indirect light for the plants. The wall is recessed 18″ to allow for a trough planter that holds a variety of tropical plants — as well as creeping fig which will climb the wall. The face of the planter is flush with the adjoining wall.
Italian made terracotta pots are suspended via wall mounted iron brackets. Several design scenarios for the placement of the potted plants led to an asymmetrical pattern that will allow some of the plants to cascade. The plants, terracotta pots, and custom planter were designed and selected as a totality of the contemporary loft’s interior.
